The Forbidden City stands as the epitome of the fusion of ancient Chinese political civilization, cultural artifacts, and national culture.
In 2020, on the occasion of the 600th anniversary of the Forbidden City's completion, the Chinese high-end sportswear branded clothing company, BIEM.L.FDLKK, collaborated with the Forbidden City Imperial Culture, using clothing as a carrier to explore the profoundness of Chinese culture.
In 2022, BIEM.L.FDLKK collaborated once again, this time with Zhang Xue, an inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of Suzhou embroidery, using this heritage to interpret traditional Chinese culture, inheriting the classics of Chinese culture, and paying tribute to Oriental aesthetics.
—Intangible Cultural Heritage Suzhou Embroidery, Showcasing the Classic Charm of Cultural Heritage
Suzhou embroidery, originating from Suzhou and dating back to the Spring and Autumn Period, has a history of over two thousand years. It represents not only a significant aspect of Chinese culture but also one of the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage items approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China. Zhang Xue, also known as "Suzhou Embroidery Gentleman," is an inheritor of Suzhou embroidery, the fourth-generation inheritor of the Xue family, and a special guest on CCTV.1's "National Treasure" program. Born into a family renowned for Zhuhu embroidery, she learned from her mother, Xue Jindi. With her minimalist creative style, Zhang Xue has developed a distinct artistic characteristic, evident in her interactive installation piece "Starlight," which integrates Suzhou embroidery with digital media technology, as well as her three-dimensional works "Mountain" and the collaborative piece "Source" with the renowned Czech artist Peter Pisažik. Zhang Xue is not only a well-deserved cultural artisan but also an inheritor promoting the innovation and development of Suzhou embroidery culture.
BIEM.L.FDLKK collaborates with Zhang Xue, an inheritor of intangible cultural heritage Suzhou embroidery, delving deeper into traditional Chinese culture. Utilizing intangible cultural heritage skills to interpret the Forbidden City Imperial Culture Joint Collection, they once again present a new trend of high-end Chinese fashion.
